Upon entering Historic Downtown Clifton, you will discover Heritage Plaza, featuring “On the Banks of the Bosque,” the life-sized Bruce Greene bronze sculpture of a rider on his horse, pausing for refreshment.
The Heritage Plaza project was begun in 1997 by Clifton Main Street and completed in 1999. Funds were raised by selling miniature bronzes of the original sculpture. In 2007, the Main Street Board of Directors utilized a Texas Department of Agriculture grant with additional private funding to replace the original fountain with a more life-like water feature and planted trees and the Saint Augustine lawn.
